Capital Radio 604 was southern Africa’s first independent radio station. The sound of radio changed forever. Capital introduced slick DJs, who actually knew their craft,an All Hit Radio music format covering pop, rock, jazz, soul, funk, country to name a few. Artists never heard before on South African radio. Committed to local artists, Capital launched the careers of Johnny Clegg, Brenda Fasie, Steve Kekana and 100s of other artists who were ignored by the SABC’s Radio 5.
