96.2 The Smooth Groove

SmoothGroove Al I’ve been into music my whole life. I guess it all started with Motown, Aretha, Sly and all of that “AM Blend” radioof the early 70’s. In the early days I was a lyric man, and as I grew I started writing lyrics of my own which lead me in the direction of songwriting and production – my original first musical love. Over the years, my musical affliction has taken me into many of the behind the scenes arenas of the music world. I’ve pretty much done it all…radio on-air, club DJ, concerts, record labels, indie record promo, studio engineer, producer, writer and performer. I recorded some pre-fame tracks with Toni Braxton, shared the performance stage with Jermaine Jackson, performed at an NBA playoff game (no, not the National Anthem). At the end of the day, radio is where I could most easily make a music-related living. I started at college radio thirty years ago and still prefer its “purity.” But the internet is where I can have my own piece of the radio landscape.
